Best Nightclubs in Ebisu

Where to go for Nightlife in Ebisu?

Ebisu is arguably the trendy place in greater Tokyo and my girlfriend and I have spent many hours searching the area at night for some of the best clubs. Based on our experiences, we have compiled a list of some of the nightclubs in Ebisu that stand out for their atmosphere, drink selection, and overall experience. It wasn’t an easy list to par down to five and we cannot say we’ve hit all the clubs, but these are the ones that have stood out for us.

Ebisu Nightlight, Clubs and Bars

If you are looking to get the most from the best nightclubs in Ebisu, then my girlfriend and I can heartily recommend these five that really stand out.

Liquid Room

Originally located in Shinjuku, the club recently moved to Ebisu and brings with it a considerable number of live events. The club itself is simple in presentation as it is a long, rectangular room with a few seats located in the back. While the atmosphere may not be the best on standard club nights, the place really comes alive when there is live music. You can catch many young and up-and-coming acts in the Liquid Room which is one of the best.

This nightclub offers live house and numerous club events. There’s an underground feeling to this club which my girlfriend loves. Batica also has exellent live DJ’s and a variety of music genres that are popular among music fanatics. We found the sound system to be perfect as the dance floor is situated right by the DJ booth, not close enough to make things uncomfortable. You can also catch concerts and upcoming bands playing here from time to time.

Don’t let the seemingly simple name fool you, this is a club that is one of the hottest nightspots in all of Ebisu. The main room alone holds over 600 people and there is another dance floor downstairs. However, there is an all-night café that we often hit when finishing up the club scene. The food is good, but really the only reason to go to the Unit is to catch some of the latest, hottest bands and dance the night away.

Certainly, one of the most popular spots in Ebisu, you can find it between the Wendy’s and the KFC which has a big statue of Col. Sanders. The bar itself is not that big and the sake is served cold, but the staff will heat it up to your desired temperature. Buri is meant for an older crowd, but we’ve have a good time here thanks to the rich, relaxing atmosphere and excellent selection of drinks.

What the Dickens

What makes this a favorite of mine is that What the Dickens is really a British pub smack in the middle of Ebisu. All the best British beer and cider can be found here and even my girlfriend loves the atmosphere. There are a lot of dating couples and romantic encounters to be had here. If you are looking for a change of pace from Japanese bars and clubs, then What the Dickens is one of the best nightclubs in Ebisu.

Notable mention for more drinking, if you’re still not tipsy afterwards:
We know this last one is more of an Izakaya than anything else, we had to include Saiki as the local traditional drinking place here.

This is an older pub that is two-stories and offers an atmosphere that is fast disappearing from Japan. The first floor only has seating for about 20 people, but the food is excellent. My girlfriend recommends the Sashimi plate or you can go with the raw vegetables that are accompanied by the red miso dip. However, if you only read English you will have to guess since all the menus are in Japanese. Bringing a Japanese friend who loves to drink with you, is your best bet.
