There is something for everyone in these next entries.

Yamada-Denki LABI

An immense building with crazy escalators that can be seen as “tubes” outside of one of their main buildings which will alert you that you’re about to enter a place where its structure is an innovation in itself. This is just the beginning until you explore the inside of this enormous place.

Their other stores aren’t small either and can be found across the entirety of Japan. All of their buildings are huge and are complete stores in themselves. What interested me was the heated toilet seats which had so many buttons that I wouldn’t even know which ones to push. Also their rice cookers are so technically advanced as opposed to the one I had at home. Tourists flock here to buy these gizmos that can steam your vegatables, produce pancakes and many other options.

Japanese culture runs wild in this place as there is a corridor dedicated to every popular Japanese interests. There is a special place for cosplayers, then there is a section for manga and anime fans and the stories continue on. It is like a huge mall with all kinds of exciting gadgets.

This is another huge store which did not only impress from the outside but also from the inside as you gradually get lost in the vast corridors with many different kinds of electronics. Yodobashi Akiba is a place that you should put on a must-do list when going to Tokyo for the first time.

Yodobashi has the biggest collection of technologies, both new and extremely old, practical innovations that you can’t find in any other country, cameras, weird gadgets, headphones, TV’s, kitchen furniture with internet attachments to them, corridors for cosplayers and a hall for toys (There is an entire hall just for shopping car toys!)

Everything in Yodobashi is massively numbered, and you can lose an entire day by rolling around in this immense collection of stuff you could only find in small themed Japanese stores. But in the scale of one of the biggest supermarkets you’ve ever visited.

You’ve probably already heard of this brand, as it’s very famous for its quality cameras and gadgets for photographers. This Japanese company has a multitude of stores with a lot to offer for newcomers that want to buy new technology.

Before entering the flashy corridors and bright lights of Japanese stores, you might want to settle for something that is internationally famous and has a more classical design to their stores first. That is why you should visit Nikon’s amazing stores in their birthplace: Japan.

Just because Nikon can be found in many places around the world doesn’t mean it doesn’t have anything for you. Although my iPhone has a camera, I was blown away by their technologically advanced photo gadgets and accessories. Tokyo is where the biggest technology stores are and that is no exception for this entry.

Tokyu Hands

Not as immense as something like Yamada-Denki LABI or Yodobashi Akiba, but definitely not lacking in diversity. This old, beloved child of the Tokyo community is a brand that you can find anywhere in malls and supermarkets all around the country. They sell all kinds of products and even though their focus is not specifically on technology, you won’t miss the feeling of new and exciting things in Tokyu Hands because there definitely is a lot to explore.

This store is more aligned to what you would find in a Japanese store outside of Japan. Cute products, crazy ideas for gadgets and practical products, kitchen utensils with a twist to them, objects with the face of an anime character attached, everything that is related to the Japanese culture can be found in this store, and the best thing is that it can be found all under one roof.

Akihabara Denki Gai

Akihabara Denki Gai

Not a particular store, but an entire street of colorful buildings and bright lights like as if Las Vegas met Japanese culture, this is a street you definitely need to visit as it is an entirely new experience for everyone and the fact that it is free and is walking distance from the subway station makes it even more compelling.
Many buildings are colored with anime and manga characters, but everything definitely smells of technology here. There is the Game Trio station, where you have an entire building with several floors just for the gaming community; an immense store that focuses entirely on selling manga and anime; so many things to explore that you have to visit this collection of stores at least twice.

Tip: Visit after sunset as the main street is stunning at night.
