Where are the Best Shopping Places in Omotesando?
Omotesando offers several excellent fashion shops that my girlfriend and I love going to on the weekends. You can find all the latest fashion as well as international brands if you hit these top stores. At the request of my friends who are into fashion, my girlfriend and I compiled a list of the places we’ve been and the result is the five top shops in Omotesando.
Omotesando Fashion Shops
1. Laforet Harajuku
If there is one store that represents the best in the area, Laforet Harajuku is probably the one. When I take visitors to this store, they automatically notice the skip-floor construction which zig-zags up the thirteen floors of the building. It’s a funky fashion mall with small boutiques and clothes shops you won’t see anywhere else in Tokyo. We found both men’s and ladies fashions here and there were lots of sales to be had. If you don’t mind the crowds and love the bargain basement discounts, make sure to visit during the annual Grand Bazar sale in the summer. My girlfriend and I love these shops because it offers great deals on clothes, shoes, and accessories. Plus, there are Lolita and Gothic Lolita stores which are some of the best in Tokyo.

If you are looking for the latest smartphones or computer accessories, this is the place. Of course, there are other electronic devices, bags, stationery, and more in this location. They have many cute and strange things that are useful for the home or office. Who knows? You might walk out with an odd item or two, that you were not searching for in the first place. My girlfriend loves to shop here because it has so many souvenirs that are unique to the store itself. Admittedly, it’s not the easiest place to find, but it is well worth checking out.

3. Omotesando Hills
This is the largest shopping complex in the area and it is for the chic shopper. Famously built by the Japanese Architect, Tadao Ando, the aesthetically pleasing architecture is a sight to behold. Although this mall contains many luxury high end brand stores, many travelers deem it too expensive but still come here to check out the building designs and for window shopping. Even though my girlfriend and I may not fall into that category, we love the incredible selection and sheer amount of fashion apparel that is available. There are around 75 stores in the complex and anything related to apparel and shoes you can find here. Also, there are about 20 cafés and restaurants along with a dozen or so salons and beauty stores so if you ever get hungry or just want to look better, you have several options.
You can miss this striking building which was created by MVRDV, a Dutch design firm. There are several international brands of fashion, but what really makes this place standout is the uniquely spacious area with wood-like terraces and plants that take you into another atmosphere. You’ll find Bulgari and Chanel on two floors of the store with a MoMA Design store on the third floor. This is a great place to find what you want in international fashion.

5. Tokyo Plaza Omotesando Harajuku
This is one weird-looking place as there are several escalators and many mirrors on the walls which gives this shop the most unique appearance. However, it may be the center of fashion when it comes to the wide range of apparel choices both domestic and from overseas like Tommy Hilfiger and American Eagle. What my girlfriend likes the most is the rooftop garden that provides a little peace and quiet which makes this a most enjoyable experience. The top floor houses a Starbucks, so grab a coffee afterwards and relax with the spectacular view.

If you find yourself in the Omotesando district looking for the latest fashion and apparel, you cannot go wrong with the shops listed here. They are all highly respected, reasonably priced, unique in their presentation, and my girlfriend and I consider them the top shops in Omotesando.
